Hello Millar Family!

I set up a Millar Family Favorite Recipes Blog, so that if we are looking for a recipe that one of our family members makes we can find it here! I thought it would be a good way to keep them all together, and have easy access to them. I know I'm always miss placing the recipes I write down, so for me this will be helpful, and I won't have to bother you all every time I need the recipe AGAIN. Also when we have our get togethers and some one says, "oh that is so good, can I get the recipe?", we can just put it on here and its there for all of us to access! Or if you come accross a recipe that is just to good not to post, put it on :) I hope you all will contribute to it. With so much distance between us, our food blog will make it easy to share recipes with each other.
* There is a request column on the side so any one wanting to request a recipe from someone just type whom your request is for, what the request is, and who the request is from.
*Also be sure to give credit to who the recipe is from, and then at the end of the recipe put your name so we know who put it on here:)

SPINACH STRAWBERRY SALAD WITH POPPY SEED DRESSING AND SUGARED NUTS

Recipe From : Your Homebased Mom

INGREDIENTS
  • Salad:
  • Baby Spinach
  • Red onion, chopped (as much as you like)
  • Strawberries, sliced
  • Sugared Nuts (1/2 C nuts to 1/4 sugar)
  • Poppy Seed Dressing
  • POPPY SEED DRESSING:
  • 1/2 canola oil
  • 1/4 C apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 2 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried minced onion
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Salad:
  • Combine spinach and dressing and top with strawberries, nuts and red onion.
  • POPPY SEED DRESSING:
  • Mix together ingredients well and pour over spinach
  • SUGARED NUTS
  • Combine a 1/2 cup of nuts along with 1/4 cup of sugar in a small frying pan.Turn the heat onto medium and stir.  It will take a few minutes for anything to happen.  The sugar will begin to clump up around the nuts. And then before you know it the sugar will have totally melted and the nuts will be coated and brown.  Be careful because it can go from nothing to burned pretty fast.  Be sure and stir continuously. Spread the nuts out onto a slightly greased plate for them to cool and dry.  You will need to break them apart a bit before adding them to the salad.
